The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or going to school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. cheap robot vacuum cleaner allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a good cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models from the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost this is a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
